Last Thursday saw the Northern SOS Kit Aid Golf Day take place, and it was a fabulous success!
The event, which took place at Staining Lodge Golf Club in Blackpool saw a wide variety of teams come together, all in support of the Charity. There were 23 teams, which consisted of 92 players, who all enjoyed a wonderful game of golf, charity raffle, silent auction, as well as the chance to mingle and enjoy the sunshine.
The winning team was Zero Putts Given, captained by Thomas Buchan and the winning individual, who won his height in beer (courtesy of Bowness Bay Brewing Company), was Arthur Perie. A huge well done to them.
We’d like to thank our sponsors, partners, and suppliers, who without their support, events such as this wouldn’t happen. Specific thanks go out to World Rugby, who have been our partner for over 20 years. They brought a team along on the day, which was orchestrated through Greg Woods, World Rugby Participation Manager.
This is also the second year running where our long-standing partners, Halbro Sportswear have been hugely involved. On top of being our golf shirt sponsor, they also provided each player on their starting Tee with a stick of SOS Kit Aid Blackpool rock. Huge thanks go out to John Moores and Fergus Farrell from Halbro Sportswear for their support in making this happen.
This event came off the back of a much-celebrated award for the Charity’s Founder, John Broadfoot, who was awarded with an MBE at the King’s Birthday Honours List. John said, “I’d like to thank Andy and Kath Thompson, Richard Westaway, new boy Adrian France, Alan Parry, and Roger Aitken for yet another fantastically professional and successful, money raising Northern SOS Kit Aid Golf Day. Well done to everyone who played their part, including the golfers themselves.”
With a combination of the silent auction, raffle, hole sponsorship and entry fees, the event has raised approximately £4000!
This is the first of our annual golf days, with the next one taking place on 18th August at Kingsdown Golf Club, Wiltshire.
